Laser optical flow measurement
On-site calibrations of nine electromagnetic flow meters in drinking water pipes from DN 600 to DN 1200 were carried out at Stadtwerke München. The aim of the on-site calibration was the determination of the measurement deviations from the real flow of each meter. The advantage of this calibration measurement was that it was carried out on site and a dismantling of the flow meters under test could be avoided. A new optical measuring method (OPTOpipe) was developed by OPTOLUTION to measure the internal geometries of the cement-lined pipelines during operation. The calibrations have revealed partially significant, negative measurement deviations of the flow meters with the resulting effects on the water losses in the network.
