OPTOLUTION offers hardware components (lasers, synchronizers, cameras) especially for PIVlab. This enables uncomplicated and cost-efficient PIV studies.

PIVlab is a free MATLAB implementation of "Digital Particle Image Velocimetry" (DPIV), a non-contact method for the analysis of flow velocities. PIVlab is under continuous development by our collaborator William Thielicke. The established method uses images taken at a known time interval. From these images, the displacement of particles or textures is determined in a spatially and temporally resolved manner by cross-correlation. PIVlab is the most cited PIV software achieving the same measurement quality as commercial softwares - with much simpler operation and less complexity.

PIVlab has been extended to directly control cameras, synchronizers and lasers. The operation of a PIV setup is thus extremely simplified (see video below).

OPTOLUTION has developed cost-effective synchronizers, cameras and light sources for PIVlab. Our pulsed laser diodes with 5 - 40 Watt power are the perfect choice for a wide range of applications in air and water with limited budget. Contact us - you will talk directly to the developers!

Here you will find an overview of available components for cost effective PIV systems:

PIV Products from OPTOLUTION

PIVlab supports selected cameras, light sources and synchronizers that can be acquired through OPTOLUTION.

A complete PIV system, based on PIVlab.

By using frame-straddling with synchronizers and pulsed lasers, PIV studies can be performed with outstanding quality.
