Keyhole technology for measuring internal pipe geometries

A new type of laser-optical measuring device allows the measurement of the inner geometry of coated, large pipelines (e.g. cement-lined drinking water pipelines, ND 400 - 1200). For this purpose, a movable mirror system is introduced through a ball valve and a small hole in the pipe. The inner surfaces of the pipe are subsequently scanned by a laser and a camera. The measurements performed according to the principle of triangulation.
The measuring device was developed by OPTOLUTION and allows the non-contact measurement of filled and pressurized pipelines with high accuracy (e.g. for ND 400 with an uncertainty of less than 0.2%, k = 2). The device is used in the laser-optical on-site calibration of large volume flow meters (VOK).
